Asbestos 2026 Conference

The three-day conference, which was co-hosted by the Faculty of Asbestos Management of Australia and New Zealand (FAMANZ) and Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency (ASSEA) in early March at Sydney Harbour’s Doltone House on Gadigal Country, was attended by 300 individuals from 14 countries, representing the entire asbestos lifecycle.

ASBESTOS: the next national plan

The Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency (ASEA) was established in July 2013 to provide a national focus on asbestos issues. It worked with state and territory governments to produce a National Strategic Plan for Asbestos Management and Awareness to ensure that right around Australia, people can work together to reduce the risks posed by asbestos. The aim of the plan is to work towards the ultimate elimination of asbestos-related disease.
