The three-day conference, which was co-hosted by the Faculty of Asbestos Management of Australia and New Zealand (FAMANZ) and Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency (ASSEA) in early March at Sydney Harbour’s Doltone House on Gadigal Country, was attended by 300 individuals from 14 countries, representing the entire asbestos lifecycle.
It was the conference’s main goal to create a future “Blueprint” for safe, proactive asbestos removal by identifying industry barriers, gaps, and workable solutions. Frontline safety professionals, policymakers, regulators, medical researchers, clinicians, and technical innovators shared their knowledge.
Because of the deterioration of older building materials and the increased frequency of natural disasters that raise exposure risks, the incidents highlighted the growing urgency of asbestos safety.
